T45 Hop Pellets

What are T45 Hop Pellets?

T45, or sometimes called P45 hop pellets, are concentrated or lupulin-enriched hop pellets. All G&U hop pellets are nitrogen-flushed and vacuum-sealed for perfect freshness.

Similar to T90 pellets, T45 hop pellets are dried, milled and pressed whole hop cones. However, after the hop cones are dried they're milled and sieved at -35°C. This process removes most of the original vegetative matter of the hop cone, like the stalk (strig), the small cone leafs (bract / bracteols) etc. As a result you get a supercharged hop pellet, packed with increased lupulin content through higher concentrated essential oils and alpha acids. Our German Amarillo® T45 hops have ca 50% more alpha by weight compared to T90 hops.

T45 -  A very efficient hop pellet

With T45 pellets you get all the benefits of hop pellets but work with a much more efficient hop pellet! Since most of the vegetative matter was removed from the pellet, you also end up with less trub in the kettle - which means: more beer.

You can use T45 hop pellets at any stage of the brewing process, including dry hopping. We believe they're the perfect choice for any highly hopped beer, which can benefit from the efficiencies of this concentrated pellet. If you'd like to learn more about how our T45 pellets are processed, please check out HVG's T45 pellets product specification.

How should I store T45 Pellets and do they expire?

T45 pellets' natural enemies are oxygen and big variations in air / room temperature. We recommend cold storage (between 0-5°C) as soon as you receive the hops. When you open a bag of T45 hops, only cut a small hole in the bag and reseal it airtight immediately.

If kept in perfect conditions (e.g. sealed in cold storage) and never exposed to temperatures over 25°C, hops can stay fresh for a long time. Since all G&U Hops are kept in a professional, temperature-controlled cold storage facility, hops from previous harvest years will only lose very little of their aroma and alpha acids.
